This is really a great light. It is durrable and about 18 inches tall. There is a good hook to use to hang it - or the light will stand on its own using the battery as a base.It turns on virtually immediately.The backside is blocked so you get about 250 degrees of light - not 360.The light is not extremely bright, but it does give enough light to provide general background lighting. Pair it up with the DEWALT DW919 18 Volt Flexible Floodlight, No Batteryfor the perfect lighting equipment.
My friend had this area light and let me borrow it when my electricity went out, I fell in love with it and just had to get me one. Great light.
I use this extensively around telecom equipment and other areas where I need a flood of light. Runtime on battery pack is good, I try to have at least two packs charged and ready.
This is a very convenient product that puts out a lot of light in small spaces. Unlike an incandescent light though the fluorescent light works until the voltage drops below a certain level and then it shuts off completely. An incandescent light will simply go dim as the battery discharges. While this may not seem like a big deal, wait until you find yourself in a dark attic or crawlspace and suddenly it is pitch black.
the dewalt dc527 nicad fluorescent area light is a great product. puts out alot of light for a general area. great for working in close areas with no heat.
